Campinas uses laser technique for the treatment of vitiligo and psoriasis.

An innovative device that applies laser light beams through optical fiber – XTRAC Excimer Laser, is being used by the medical field of dermatology in Campinas for the treatment of vitiligo and psoriasis, and other chronic skin diseases.

The equipment emits a laser beam with a specific length wave that is able to act on the diseases lesions. The dermatologist Antonio Bastos Filho has brought the novelty to Brazil. The sessions take five minutes and the applications are painless.

The treatment was tested in the main dermatological research centers of the U.S. and Europe and there are data that indicate that in cases of vitiligo from 90% to 95% of the treated and repigmented lesions do not show the disease again. In the psoriasis cases, the treated lesions can maintain a long period of remission.
